Pictures of Kids Who Look Like Their Dad

It may seem like we love Kali more than Griff.  This is not the case... Kali is just a lot more photogenic, and Griff stops smiling after about 3 shots; thus, there are fewer pics of him.

The Good Life- Friday

Since Aaron had Friday off as well, we pretended we were still on vacation and spent the day at the zoo.  I had really high hopes for the animals we would see there, and I was slightly disappointed.  It was still worth taking the kids to, if you're into that kind of thing, but don't expect to see a pack of lions from the lion king.

There's a jaguar behind them.

Thankful for a boy who can still fall asleep in a stroller.

The Good Life- Thursday

I didn't bring the camera out on our last day, but I got these shots before we packed up and left.
This hill that Kali is flying down, with no protective gear, is the same hill that I flew down about 21 years ago and cracked my head open on.  We don't learn from our mistakes I guess.

Goodbye Carlsbad!  We love you!

The Good Life- Wednesday

On this morning I woke up to a bunch of man/boys watching the surf from our campsite.  The previous night my dad, Dirk, Krin, and the Todd drove down to play for a day.

First matter of business- sending the boys to the camp store for Mayo.
Bikes for the boys, pink scooter for the Todd.

 Resident sandwich man in action.

New meaning for "brotherly love"

Petersens!

Taking Kali out into the deep blue with my dad.
I think I was more scared than Kali was.  Every time a wave came, "Dad, what do I do?? Dive under with her or try to jump over it and risk getting pummeled?"

Loving that my little boy will still fall asleep in my arms at the beach.

Loving that this is as deep as he'll go with the Boogy Board.

Loving the view

4 smiles and everyone looking at the camera!!  Winning pic of the year.
Don't be surprised if this is on my Christmas card this year.

Good night beach!

The Good Life- Tuesday

Tuesday morning I woke up this little gem of a girl.  I am laying in bed and she says, "Mom, wake up, we're camping!"

Morning scooter ride through camp.

Later on the beach.
Take note of the sleeping boy to the right, and the fact that Kali and I each have a zip lock bag of cookies in hand.  It was a good day.

An overjoyed boy at the sight of a camp fire.

The Good Life - Monday

Carlsbad 2012

For the 6th summer in a row (yay for family traditions!) we camped out at Carlsbad beach and relished in its beauty.  This year we went for 4 days instead of the usual 3, and for some reason that made us feel like we needed to bring a whole extra trailer full of stuff.  Seriously?  Yes, seriously.  We borrowed a friend's trailer and filled it with bikes, the BBQ, and everything else from our apartment.  We figured that since we were using the trailer, that the car would be mostly empty. Right?  Nope, that was filled as well with several coolers of food and drinks.  In summary, things got a little out of hand with the packing, but we had EVERYTHING we needed and wanted for nothing.

By the time we checked in to camp and set up, we only had an hour or two of daylight at the beach.  That was okay though because it was so pretty, and the kids were jazzed to have a fire with marshmallows.

This is what we look like when we have no worries in life, other than how to get sand out of little bum bums.
