February Beaching

Last week we played hooky from pre-school and went to the beach instead. I don't think it will hurt Kali's grades, and plus it was a gorgeous day out.

Griff quickly stripped down and refused to even wear a diaper.
One might conclude from this blog that I let my kids run wild with few rules.
This may be accurate.

I just figured there isn't much time left in his life that he will be able to run around naked in public.  Plus, isn't is cute how he is skipping around so joyfully?

In this last shot you can see that a film crew was filming a commercial under the pier.  They had the beach coned off so people wouldn't be in the shot.  Griff kept running through the cones, right behind the actor and I was secretly hoping the guy with the megaphone would yell "can we get the miniature naked boy out of the shot?"

Disneyland

For Griff's birthday we took the kids to Disneyland.  We have a friend who said she could get us in for free last Saturday so we jumped at it.  We knew it would be packed but it was CRAZY packed because of the holiday weekend. We barely went on anything the first few hours, and were not able to see any princesses because of all the people there.  It was pretty frustrating, since we had hyped up the day so much to the kids.  Fortunately my sister, my dad, and KC met us there and we joined forces to get the kids on more rides.  We took turns standing in lines and passed the kids under/over ropes  and made some fun memories for the kids. After our last ride, we got a great spot right under the fireworks display and watched in amazement as Tinkerbell soared above us.  It turned out to be a really nice night.  Can't wait to go back on a normal weekday and see everything that we couldn't get to.
That morning Aaron got up with the kids and made them Mickey Mouse pancakes to get them in the Disney mood.

Poor Kali thought this was a ride and wanted it to start flying. She didn't realize there was a 90 minute line for the actual ride behind her.

Outside of "It's a Small World." Apparently we Smiths wear layered shirts and don't look at the camera...

Loved "Its a Small World"

I stopped taking pictures at this point because it was so chaotic, but
KC took these pictures later that night
Watching the firworks...

Griff Turns 2

My little tiny baby turned 2 last week!  He is obsessed with Cars, so we decorated the house with Cars decor, and loaded him up with cars as gifts. He was in heaven.

There's Something About Gotye

Call it an obsession, call it a crush.  I don't know what it is but my husband and children are mesmorized by Gotye and his music video for "Somepbody That I Used to Know."
The kids aske to watch it about 100 times a day and it's getting a little out or hand.
Just a few pics of what is going on at our house.

The main point of this blog was to upload a video of Kali singing along with it but I have given up on that.  Kali sings a long and pretends that she is Kimbra, the female singer.  I even heard her tell her 3 yr. old friend yesterday that she IS Kimbra, and Griff is Gotye.  Her friend had no idea what she was talking about of course.

They're Here!

Cadbury Eggs are finally here.  For the next few months I'll be dipping into this 48 count box that I purchased.  Nope, I'm not ashamed that I bought 48.  I thought that it was a wise financial move on my part.  Plus, these puppies are only available for 3 months of the year so why not take full advantage while they are here.

Side note- The Girl Scouts are out and about right now with their cookies.  It's a great time to be alive.

Animal House

Lately we have been checking out animals.
This is Griff and a huge friendly Monitor that roams around inside Prehistoric Pets Shop.

and a snake that I couldn't get Kali to hold, but she was close enough.

We went through about 5 little lizards and frogs as well.

Last week we went to the stables to check out the horses, and one of the riders let me throw him into the saddle. Pretty cute but it got awkward when she was ready to ride and Griff refused to get off.

It's a Petersen Thing

Running Man

Spotlight on Dirky!!
A few weeks ago my tiny little brother Dirk (center) received the Melchizedek Priesthood.  We are super proud of him and a little scared that he is a man now instead of our tiny little brother.

Dirky has had lots of great achievements over the last few months, and the latest worth celebrating was his first half marathon he ran today.

We had a little photo shoot after his run, which he completed in
1hr. and 50min without actually training for it.

A little post-run warm down

I call this shot "Man on the Run"

and this one is called "Running Man Collapses in the bushes"
